WAITLIST Distance Duet - Saturday, November 23, 2024

$0.00
sold out

Distance Duet, a dance opera that considers intersecting griefs of climate emergency, isolation, and division as catalysts for transformation and connection. Engaging themes of local ecology, the site specific project centers on non-human narratives—stones, wind, water, and desert grasses—that operate in dramatically different geologic time scales and rhythms. This must-see performance is made for and about the High Desert.

Scored and written by Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, and co-directed with artist/choreographer Ryan Heffington, Distance Duet features additional movement by local artist Caroline Partamian.

High Desert Choir and “Distance Duet” are made possible with generous funds through The Puffin Foundation and individual donations. This activity is funded in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency.

Arrive by 3:30 p.m., Performance at 4 p.m.

Each performance will take place outdoors in the bouldered wash at A-Z West. Footwear suitable for the rocky terrain and a flashlight or lantern are highly recommended. Temperatures expected to drop further as we enjoy the evening; bring layers or a blanket to stay warm as the desert night cools.

Limited seating. Join the waitlist here (very good chances you’ll get in!)

Saturday night’s performance at A-Z West will be followed by an additional act of “Distance Duet” at Freedom Plaza in Twentynine Palms, evening. More information at DistanceDuet.com.
